Lindsay Lohan Has a Bizarre New Accent — and She Named It.
Lindsay Lohan now has a bizarre new accent. The Mean Girls actress, 30, explained why she might sound different these days during an interview with the Daily Mail on Tuesday, November 1.
"It's a mixture of most of the languages I can understand or am trying to learn," Lohan said. "I've been learning different languages since I was a child. I'm fluent in English and French, can understand Russian and am learning Turkish, Italian and Arabic."
Lohan's new accent was heard publicly for the first time when she spoke at the opening of her Greek nightclub last month, but the video only recently surfaced, on Tuesday. The clip of her talking sparked quite a bit of chatter about her manner of speaking, but she told the Daily Mail that she's unfazed by what others might think of it.
"Nothing really shocks me these days," she said. "I moved to London four years ago, and the taxes seem to be getting higher."
Lohan, who had a British accent for 1998's The Parent Trap, is even somewhat amused by the change. She initially told the Daily Mail that "we should let the people decide" on a name for the accent but later offered up a suggestion via Twitter.
"@DailyMailUK what should I call my new accent?" she wrote on Tuesday. "I'm thinking #LILOHAN."
Other celebs who have adopted new accents over the years include Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow and Tina Turner. Back in 2000, the Queen of Pop's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg told Entertainment Weekly that the star's change was a side effect of vocal coaching for 1996's Evita.
