"Mariah Carey Takes the Stage for First Time Since Split from Fiance James Packer"

Making it through the rain. Mariah Carey took to the stage to perform for the first time since her split from fiance James Packer at a fashion event in Toronto, Canada, on Thursday, November 3.
The “Through the Rain” singer attended the unveiling of the Toronto’s Hudson’s Bay and Saks Fifth Avenue department store’s annual Christmas window display, where she treated the crowd to a spirited rendition of her massive holiday hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”


Despite Carey’s breakup from Packer, 49 — which her rep confirmed in a statement to Entertainment Tonight on October 27 — she appeared to be in good spirits as she slayed the stage in a curve-hugging, pink Anna Maier gown.
The Elusive Chanteuse’s set, which was livestreamed on the department store’s Facebook page, ended with a burst of confetti and a stunning fireworks display.

Prior to the performance, Carey opened up to ET Canada about encouraging her 5-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, to give back during the holiday season. (Carey shares Monroe and Moroccan with ex-husband Nick Cannon.)
"I have a great team, [including] teachers and helpful nannies that help them when I can't be there 24/7," the Grammy-winner, who reached a divorce settlement with Cannon on November 1, said. "But honestly they want to do it. They're smart and they're really compassionate, even at this age."
Just days before her Christmas-themed performance, Carey made the decision to cut ties with Packer. As previously reported, the billionaire businessman and the “Fantasy” songstress split after they got into a fight during a recent vacation in Greece.
While they were still in Greece, Packer dumped Carey — who had already bought her wedding dress — while planning their big day aboard his yacht. “It was like Jekyll and Hyde,” a Carey friend reveals in the new issue of Us Weekly. “Suddenly he’s like, ‘I don’t think I can do this.'"

Amid the breakup news, Carey — who accepted a proposal from Packer back in January — canceled her upcoming South American tour dates.
“Devastated my shows in Chile, Argentina & Brazil had to be cancelled,” she tweeted on October 25. “My fans deserve better than how some of these promoters treated them."
