Shakira Opens Up About Son Sasha’s Illness After Canceling Performances: ‘Everything Is Under Control Now’.
Shakira has revealed that she has been caring for her sick 21-month-old son Sasha after canceling two major appearances, citing “personal matters.”



The 39-year-old Colombian singer posted a smiling photo of her and Sasha – her son with longtime love Gerard Piqué – while telling fans he’s feeling better. She did not reveal the nature of Sasha’s illness.
“Thanks for all the messages you sent for Sasha while he was sick,” she wrote. “Everything is under control now, and he’s back to his cheerful self!”

Later in the day, she posted a photo of Sasha playing with his big brother Milan — who will celebrate his fourth birthday on January 22.
On Monday, Shakira canceled her scheduled performances for Thursday’s Latin GRAMMYs and Sunday’s American Music Awards without much elaboration.

“Due to personal matters, I won’t be able to travel to Las Vegas and LA to attend the @LatinGRAMMYs or the @AMAs this year,” she tweeted.

“I will be accompanying @carlosvives in spirit @LatinGRAMMYs, celebrating this incredible year that we’ve shared together with #LaBicicleta,” she added.
Her duet with Colombian artist Carlos Vives — “La Bicicleta” — is up for Record of the Year and Song of the Year at Thursday’s Latin GRAMMYs.
In October, the South American chanteuse released her new single “Chantaje,” a sexy, buoyant jam sung in her native tongue. The track — translation: “blackmail”— only includes four words in English, including “pretty boy,” which is fitting. That happens to be the nickname of fellow Colombia-native Maluma, 22, who guests to offer some steamy Spanish banter.

“Chantaje” is the first Spanish-language single Shakira, 39, has dropped since her 2014 self-titled album (which included the cut “La La La”) and is expected to be included on her forthcoming eleventh studio album that she is currently preparing.
